Faces of Color by Dr. Gisele Girault

Skin of color is skin that is naturally radiant and glowing, and it can range in color from cafe au lait to a deep rich espresso. Skin of color has more pigment called melanin, and the amount of this pigment can vary widely, depending on a person's ethnic background. People of color are typically of African, Asian, Latin, or Native ancestry. Great looking skin of color has a healthy, luminous tone. But, healthy skin starts with professional skin treatments. Skin of color can be sensitive and may be easily irritated with many skin products. Ingredients such as fragrances, dyes, lanolin, and alcohol can be especially irritating, leading to burning, itching, breakouts, pigmentation problems and dark blemishes.

FACES OF COLOR by Dr. Gisele Girault is a custom corrective skin care regimen which is effective and safe for darker skin types. My treatment plan for you and your particular skin problem starts with a daily regimen of cleanse, tone, moisturize and correct using our pharmaceutical grade skin care line. If you have a problem with oiliness, dryness, acne, hyperpigmentation, or uneven skin tone, we can add the next step which is exfoliation with microdermabrasion or a custom medical grade chemical peel.

Medical treatments such as Botox and dermal fillers like Restylane and Juvederm are ideal to help smooth frown lines and deeper wrinkles, while laser treatments can tighten and firm fine lines. We also offer laser treatments that are safe and effective for hair removal and treatment of Pseudofolliculitis Barbae, or razor bumps. Acne and acne scarring can also be improved with the laser.

We know skin of color, and we have the products and treatments to make your skin look its best.

So trust your skin to

Cafe au Lait Collection

Cafe au Lait Collection

Our Cafe au Lait collection of corrective skin care is for medium skin tones that react to UV exposure by occasionally burning, but tanning easily.

This skin type is susceptible to sun damage which ages the skin by decreasing collagen production. Decreased collagen leads to fine lines and wrinkles.

Whether your skin is oily or dry, I recommend daily UV protection as part of your skin care regimen and a moisturizer suited to your skin type. I would also consider retinol and vitamin C to help your skin repair any sun damage you may have.

Fine lines and wrinkles can be improved with a combination of Botox, dermal fillers and laser skin tightening.

Cappuccino Collection

Cappuccino Collection

Our Cappuccino Collection of corrective skin care is for olive to light brown skin that rarely burns and always tans.

Your skin problem may be uneven skin tones and large pores which is a problem that we can correct. Proper daily skin care with professional products is your first step to a more even complexion. In addition, I recommend a regular schedule of exfoliation treatments to include a series of medical strength chemical peels in combination with microdermabrasion.

If you have acne, in addition to your daily regimen, I recommend laser treatments to help clear up your acne. These treatments are safe and effective for all skin of color.

Mocha Collection

Mocha Collection

Our Mocha Collection of corrective skin care is for brown skin that always tans and never burns.

Your skin may have pigmentation problems, which may lead to uneven skin tone. If you develop dark spots whenever you have a breakout, rash, or exzema, you may have a common condition called "inflammatory hyperpigmentation" where your skin reacts to any injury by depositing more pigment during the healing process, thus leaving a dark blemish.

I recommend topical treatments such as hydroquinone and kojic acid to fade the blemish. Facial hair may also contribute to uneven skin tone and various hair removal treatments, such as plucking and waxing, may cause "inflammatory hyperpigmentation."

Laser hair removal is safe for your skin type and will illiminate the need for those irritating hair removal treatments that may be contributing to your uneven skin tone.

Espresso Collection

Espresso Collection

Our Espresso Collection of corrective skin care is for dark brown or Black skin that always tans and never burns.

Your skin care concerns may include oiliness, acne and facial hair which may become ingrown causing a common condition called "inflammatory hyperpigmentation." These ingrown hairs in men who shave create a condition called Pseudofolliculitis barbae or razor bumps.

In addition to your daily skin care regimen with professional products, I recommend laser hair removal and laser treatment of razor bumps.

Both are safe and effective for your skin tone.
